Singleness & Purpose
Trapped In The Waiting Season
Coach Blessing Amoo · October 1, 2026

Are you really waiting on God, or have you become comfortable waiting?
Let me ask you a very honest question:
Are you really waiting on God, or have you become comfortable waiting?
Because there is a difference.
I have seen singles pray for years, waiting for “God’s person.”
“God, when will my husband come?” “God, when will I meet my wife?” “God, just show me the person.”
And honestly, I understand. But sometimes, the problem isn't that the person hasn't come.
The problem is that you haven't become the person who can recognize, choose, build with, and sustain the relationship you are praying for.
Think about it.
If the person you have been praying for walked into your life today, would you even know what to ask?
Would you know how to assess compatibility? Would you know the difference between chemistry and character?
Would you be able to identify unhealthy patterns?
Would you have the emotional maturity to communicate, set boundaries, resolve conflict and love well?
Or would you simply say, “God said this is my person” and ignore everything else?
This is where I need you to pause.
“God said” should never become an excuse to stop thinking, growing and doing your part.
God will never play your part for you. You still have to heal. You still have to grow.
You still have to learn. You still have to examine your patterns.
You still have to deal with the pain from your past. You still have to learn what healthy love looks like.
Because imagine finally meeting the person you prayed for, only to bring an unhealed version of yourself into the relationship.
You prayed for the marriage. But you didn't prepare for the marriage.
You prayed for a good partner. But you didn't become a good partner.
You prayed for someone emotionally mature. But you haven't developed emotional maturity yourself.
Becoming is just as important as searching.
And there is another side to this conversation.
Some of you are waiting, but you are not positioning yourself.
You want to meet intentional people, but you are completely invisible.
You want someone to find you, but you have made no room for meaningful connection.
Sometimes, you don't need another prayer. You need positioning.
Go where the kind of people you desire can actually meet you.
Build meaningful relationships. Be open to healthy introductions. Participate in intentional communities.
And yes, use platforms created to help intentional singles connect.
Waiting doesn't mean sitting still. You can trust God and still take responsibility.
So, if you feel like you have been trapped in a waiting season, perhaps the question shouldn't only be: “God, when will my person come?”
Maybe ask: “Who am I becoming while I wait?” Because the goal is not just to find someone.
The goal is to become someone who can build something healthy, intentional and lasting when the right connection comes.
Don't spend your entire waiting season searching for a person when you could be preparing a person—YOU.
And this is part of why Covenant Connect exists.
Covenant Connect is a platform for intentional singles who are ready to move beyond simply waiting and become more intentional about meeting, connecting and building meaningful relationships with the right people.
Sometimes, positioning simply means putting yourself in the right room.
